Taxi drivers may find it interesting to hear that flying taxis may soon be up and running here in the UK. You only have to type something like FLYING TAXIS into Google News and you will be presented with a number of news articles about this interesting subject.

Apparently, the government would like to see taxis in our skies in the next couple of years. Who would have thought that was a possibility a few years ago?

These flying taxis seem more like helicopters so it sounds like they will only be able to carry a limited number of people.

Presumably, at least initially, the cost of such journeys is going to limit the user to being shall we say rich and famous. It is not going to be a mode of transport that most of the general public will be able to afford to use.

There is no doubt that it will be a way to get from one city to another in the UK at great speed – certainly quicker than making the journey in a taxi by road. After all, you are not going to get caught up in a traffic jam on the M25 motorway.

Perhaps flying taxis may appeal to some business executives who need to get from A to B as soon as possible as their time is money. One could argue that they may be used instead of helicopters.

Who knows but it may be possible to travel from say Leeds to Liverpool in less than 30 minutes. Can you imagine how long that would take if you travelled by car?

Presumably, there would need to be a suitable infrastructure in place where flying taxis can land and take off from i.e. airports.

Flying taxis certainly sound like a potential mode of transport that may not be too many years away from coming into being. We will do our utmost to keep our readers up to date with developments relating to flying taxis.
