You will no doubt be aware of what is happening in Ukraine resulting in many people from that country fleeing their homeland. Some of those refugees have ended up in Poland.

Well, a taxi driver from London by the name of Matt Westfall was involved in the raising of a five figure sum and along with other taxi drivers drove six black cabs and a couple of other vehicles to some refugee camps in Poland to deliver aid including toilet rolls, baby food and nappies. Having done that they then transported a number of Ukrainian refugees to certain European countries including Germany.

As well as members of the public donating money, Eclipse Rent-A-Taxi and the London Taxi Drivers ‘ Association also provided financial assistance. All are to be commended for a wonderful gesture.

It is pleasing to hear that the trip lasting four days was a success with all returning to safety.

Many taxi drivers struggled financially during the pandemic with many going out of business and having to look for alternative employment. Therefore, it is commendable to hear of the above with these taxi drivers giving up work for a few days and possibly loosing much needed income.

There are no doubt other examples of people in the UK going that extra mile to help Ukrainian refugees such as by donating items such as clothing and offering to provide accommodation for some of those refugees who come to the UK and transporting goods to refugee camps like the above taxi drivers did.

You only have to watch the news channels or listen to the radio to hear about what is currently taking place in Ukraine and has been doing so for over a month now. We are sure that you will agree the sooner a peaceful solution can be found the better for all concerned.
