If you are setting up a new business as a taxi driver or are an established taxi driver looking to change your vehicle you will need to decide whether to purchase a new or used taxi but which one should you go for?
Well, it will probably not come as a surprise to read that there are pros and cons of both options.
Obviously, you are likely to have to pay quite a bit more for a new taxi in comparison to a second hand taxi and it is no secret that as soon as you drive it off the forecourt it will be worth considerably less than what you paid for it. It will depreciate quite rapidly as well.
On the plus side, with a new taxi, you will probably get warranty cover over a significant period of time. It may attract more clients as some would rather be transported around in a nice new taxi. It will probably be more reliable than a used van being less likely to break down. I t may also be more fuel-efficient than a used one.
You may also want to consider a new electric taxi of some kind.
If you buy a used taxi you may find that you are lucky enough to purchase one that provides trouble free motoring for a number of years especially if it has been serviced regularly by the previous owner. It may also come with some form of warranty cover but usually for a shorter period than for a new taxi.
A used taxi may look a bit worse for wear inside the vehicle as it is likely to have carried several hundred passengers over the years. You will need to make sure that the seating is not ripped as this nay detract passengers from wanting to travel in it.
