If you are a taxi driver running your own business then you will need to decide if you will be bringing in the New Year on the 31st December 2025 with your own family or will you be out in your taxi or private hire vehicle picking up and dropping customers off.

That decision is possibly going to be based upon your financial situation. If you are in the fortunate position to have a very financially successful taxi business then you may not feel you need to work on New Year’s Eve thus enabling you to be wit your family when Big Ben strikes midnight on the aforementioned evening.

For many taxi drivers, who are struggling financially, New Year’s Eve may be a very profitable evening as far as generating much needed income.

On New Year’s Eve, may people will be out enjoying themselves sometimes into the early hours. A considerable number of those people will probably enjoy a drink or two and choose not to drive. Therefore, if they are unable to be dropped off and picked up by a family member or friend they are likely to require the services of a taxi firm or private hire vehicle business.

You could find that you are able to deal with a number of pick-ups and drop offs on New Year’s Eve enabling you to generate a very good income. If you have been a taxi driver for many years then you will be aware that a large number of your passengers on New Year’s Eve are very generous when it comes to giving you a tip – perhaps more generous than at any other time of the year.

A word of caution though. You really do want to try to avoid picking up a passenger who is so worse the wear for drink that he or she is sick in your taxi or private hire vehicle as this could mean that you are unable to do any more work for the rest of the evening and perhaps even the following day which is New Year’s Day – another potentially lucrative day.
