Many passengers on a train that was scheduled to run from London to Edinburgh were recently faced with what sounded like a nightmare of a journey due to a train defect. It involved people having to take a taxi ride that was around 180 miles plus in length.

Apparently, the train involved set off from London but its journey came to an end in Preston that is circa 180 miles from Edinburgh. Some passengers waited for several hours at Preston before boarding a number of taxis to make the long and no doubt exhausting journey up to Edinburgh. We are sure that you will agree that is an awful long way to make a trip in a taxi.

Presumably, some people will probably have had to share a taxi with one or more people that they did not know which in itself could have proved a little concerning for some passengers.

A journey by train from London to Edinburgh is in itself a long one but this trip for many of these passengers incorporating having to wait around whilst taxis were sorted out plus the amount of time spent in the taxis must have lengthened the journey by many hours and proved extremely tiring for those involved.

Presumably, the passengers who were severely inconvenienced will be compensated in monetary terms.

It must have cost the train company a huge amount in payouts to both inconvenienced passengers and to taxi drivers to meet their fares. It must have been a very tiring journey for taxi drivers who will presumably have also had to make the long journey back to Preston having dropped off their passengers in Edinburgh. Of course, they will no doubt have been suitably remunerated for the trip.

It is to be hoped that this was just a one off situation for train passengers making such a journey. Dare we say that taxi drivers will undoubtedly have welcomed the extra work and of course the fare income.
