Hopefully, you look after your taxi all year round – after all it provides you with an income to help support you and your family. However, when the colder weather comes along that is something we are seeing at the moment in the UK, there are some extra things you may wish to check.

For instance, you should make sure that the anti-freeze in your taxi is of the correct mixture and level. You should also check the same thing for your windscreen wash and whilst we are talking about glass you should ensure that you carry deicer and a window scraper to help remove any ice off your windows.

Presumably, you get your taxi serviced on a regular basis to ensure that things like your oil is changed and at the correct level, all your lights are working, your windscreen wipers are performing as they should do, the tyres have a good tread depth and your brakes are in good condition.

You will want to make sure that your heating system is working well as your fare-paying passengers will no doubt want to be kept warm. Your air conditioning should also be operating effectively.

It is particularly important that you keep your taxi clean both inside and out. At this time of year, many of your passengers will be getting into your vehicle with dirty and wet footwear. The outside of your taxi will get particularly dirty including salt from the gritters that should be removed as soon as possible.

You may also want to consider carrying in the boot of your taxi things like a waterproof and warm coat, wellington boots, shovel, torch, food and drink in case you broke down or got caught up in heavy snow whilst out and about in your taxi. Do ensure that you carry a mobile phone and a charger at all times.

We hope that you have found the above to be of benefit. Safe driving.
