You will obviously be aware that Queen Elizabeth 11 sadly passed away a few days ago at Balmoral in Scotland having spent 70 years on the throne. She has been succeeded by her son King Charles 111. The funeral is to take place on 19th September 2022.

Those of you who are taxi drivers may be aware that within a few hours of her death being announced a large number of black cab drivers in London paid their tribute to the Queen by lining up their vehicles in the Mall that leads up to Buckingham Palace.

We are sure that you will agree this was a wonderful gesture by those taxi drivers. It is believed that this was not something that was planned in advance being more of a spontaneous act.

There is no doubt that taxi drivers in London will probably have been rushed off their feet following her death. There have been so many people from around the UK travelling down to the capital to join the queue to see her coffin and there will no doubt be a considerable number of people who have chosen to be picked up from a railway station by a black cab in the hope that those drivers are able to get them as close as possible to the start of the queue thus reducing their walking time.

With the funeral on Monday 19th September, those taxi drivers that have chosen to continue working will probably also find themselves very busy transporting people to vantage points in the hope that they can get a good view of the funeral procession as it winds its way to Westminster Abbey. The same situation may also be happening in and around Windsor where she is to be laid to rest.

It goes without saying that the late Queen Elizabeth 11 will be sadly missed by the majority of the population in the UK and worldwide as well.
