Taxi drivers will be pleased to read that the average cost of insuring a motor car has reduced once again according to the price comparison website known as Confused.com that publishes its car insurance price index once a quarter.
The average amount paid my motorists to insure his or her in the three months to February 2026 amounted to £711 per annum. That is a reduction o £66 per annum that equates to a fall of 9%. We are sure that you will agree, any saving that can be made by drivers in the current economic climate has got to be welcomed. After all, motorists are currently faced with large rises in the price of a litre of diesel and petrol at garage forecourts here in the UK as a result, in part, due to the war between the United States of America and Iran.
If you run your own taxi service business that has a fleet of taxis that you are responsible for insuring then any saving that you may be able to make has got to be welcomed.
According to the above index, it is still the young driver who is, on average, paying more for car insurance than older motorists. For instance, a 17 year old pays an average of £1,741 per annum and an 18 year old an average of £2,082 per annum. These premiums reduced by an average of £517 per annum and £352 per annum respectively when compared with a year ago.
Average premiums in the 20 to 29 year old bracket amounted to £1,264 per annum, in the 30 to 39 year old bracket £850 per annum, in the 40 to 49 year old bracket £666 per annum, in the 50 to 59 year old bracket £538 per annum, in the 60 to 69 year old bracket £448 per annum and in the 70 plus age bracket an average of £466 per annum – note the slight rise in the later bracket when compared with the previous age bracket.
Another factor that affects how much you pay to insure your car is where you live. For instance, if you reside in the South West then premiums averaged £492 per annum, in the North of England car insurance premiums average £602 per annum, if you live in Midlands North then premiums average £657 per annum, if you live in Outer London then the average premium is £893 per annum and in Inner London an average of £1,093 per annum. That later region continues to be the most expensive region to live in a far as insuring a car is concerned.
Whilst the above index relates to car insurance premiums it is quite possible that taxi insurance premiums have also come down in price.
